As a valued member of the conservation community we would like to invite you to a special event this Saturday, July 24th at San Francisco’s Ocean Beach 12- 4.
Alexandra Cousteau’s Expedition Blue Planet Team and Marine Conservation Biology Institute are hosting an afternoon public event to highlight ocean and water issues and bring awareness to the need for strong ocean conservation. Three national marine sanctuaries ring the San Francisco Bay Area, from Monterey Bay to the Farallon Islands to Cordell Bank. The Sanctuary Act is due for re-authorization and we want to make sure it includes strong protection for Californians. Additionally we are building support for the expansion of the Cordell Bank and Gulf of the Farallones National Marine Sanctuaries. Alexandra Cousteau and the Blue Legacy Expedition Team are traveling on a custom biodiesel tour bus across North America to film significant water issues found across the US, Mexico and Canada and conduct community “water actions” along the way.
Would you inform your members about this event and join us for the afternoon?
You are welcome to bring your organization’s logos, signs and information and join our “Water Village” at San Francisco’s Ocean Beach. It is a great chance for us to start working together to preserve our oceans and your members are going to have a lot of fun by taking photos, partnering with MCBI, Expedition Blue Planet and other groups, and joining in an afternoon of ocean and water awareness. Come meet ocean activists from around the San Francisco Bay Area and support the National Marine Sanctuaries – Gulf of the Farallones and Cordell Bank. The photos and messages from this event will be posted on Expedition Blue Planet http://www.alexandracousteau.org/blog-expedition-blue-planet and MCBI http://www.marineconservationblog.blogspot.com/ blogs.
