Adopt and name you own living shark caught, tagged and released back to the San Francisco Bay!
Name a Shark and Support Shark Conservation
Name and adopt your own shark and support our San Francisco Shark Sanctuary Campaign. We are uncovering fascinating information in our shark tagging program. Sharks we have tagged in the San Francisco Bay are moving offshore as far as 900 miles to the north and south, while the smaller sharks stay in the San Francisco Bay. Following the movements and rate of capture will help us better understand seasonal and short term movements, capture rates, growth and provide fisheries managers the information they need to protect these and other species of sharks.
Your tax deductible Donation of $75.00 goes to tagging, tracking & evaluating fisheries impacts on our local sharks. Receive an electronic certificate with your message, a shark plushie, a digital photo of your shark including the location of capture and release, tag number, and any information on recapture in the future.
Donate $1000.00 and join our team tagging your own shark on our vessel, the Tiburon and spend a day on the San Francisco Bay for two.
Join expert fishermen and biologists, learn about local sharks and get filmed catching and tagging a live shark for two. Proceeds support three tagging trips and as many as thirty sharks in our long term mark and recapture study. You can really save a shark and have fun doing it with Sea Stewards.
